Sorry, for NDA reasons,
I can’t post the full-size images… yet.
What a cool project! It was fun designing an interface with all the same little gadgets as Photoshop. (layout controls, text, size, color palettes, etc.) I found myself wanting to click the buttons cuz it looks so REAL!! This’ll be a fun one to chop up and build.

I’ve been asked by Vincent Taylor (Jacksonville, FL children’s author and educational / motivational speaker) to do his website. He wanted something colorful, fun, bold… and voila! Yes, another WordPress site — a great way to allow him to update his own content, add photos, etc. It’s still in the works, but it’s coming along. Part of the deal is a trade for advertsing at the children’s book publishing expo next month. I’m going to get a custom plaque hand delivered by Cornbread, himself!
Cornbread! Ain’t nothing wrong with that!

Many years ago, I was given an opportunity to get my foot into the world of programming by a guy named Dennis Hurst. I remember working with him, and I would refer to ASP as “the yellow stuff” because that’s how it highligted in Visual Studio (and also because I’ve always been nomenclaturally inept) and he taught me how to make that “yellow stuff” do whatever I told it to. Wow.
Since that very first job, I’ve run web studios, created embedded software for modems, telecommuted from China, coded, tested, designed, developed, and ultimately, started my own company. I’ve often told stories about working with Dennis, because he was the one who introduced me what later became my passion - web design.
Pixels are my friends.
So now, years later… I’m working with Dennis again. He’s giving a presentation at the Microsoft Conference Center in Denver, CO April 17th - and he asked me to design the presentation and documentation. I’m using Visual Web Developer, plus some CSS magic, to beautify ASP.NET controls — and tutorializing the whole process.
It’s gonna rock…

Day One
CSS in ASP.NET
Dennis Hurst
The ASP.NET environment provides a great many new features that make complex graphics effects like drop down menus, tree views, etc very easy to code. However, it can be very challenging to work with a graphics / web design professional when they are not ASP.NET programmers. This class will explore how Cascading Style Sheets can be used in conjunction with the ASP.NET graphical controls to make life easier for the developer and the graphics / web designer. We will specifically cover the use of CSS features in many of the ASP.NET graphics controls, what to avoid, and how to ask your graphics artist to follow a ASP.NET friendly pattern. This class will use a sample project as a learning tool and will include notes for the graphics artist / web designer.

As if I didn’t already manage enough myspace accounts… I created a new one for myself as a solo artist.
Check it out: da*sey.
I can feel it brewing. I think I might be ready to jump back into the solo acoustic circuit (in addition to Heavenly Noise & the Smile Rays)
Now I just need to record some new stuff and get it posted! :)
The journey continues…

A little flyer design I did for the 2nd PBJ event @ Ragland’s. I’m excited because it’s been years since I’ve played guitar and I got myself into an acoustic solo set! ha! I’ve been practicing like a fanatic the past few days and I have to say… it feels reeeeeeally good. I still have no idea what songs I’m going to do (since I forgot almost ALL of my old stuff) but I’ve been playing with a few unplugged Heavenly Noise songs. I’m seriously anxious about this show, both happily-excited anxious and butterflies-in-the-stomach-nervous anxious.
