awww yeah! I found the mother load of amazing stock video footage to use as overlays, borders, frames, textures, etc. I stayed up all night playing with Pick Flowers — yep, I figured out how to download and convert the YouTube FLV so I could import into Premiere — now it’s just a matter of creativity (and still learning my way around Premiere, of course) but it looks soooo cool! And I was able to cover up the Heavenly Noise title and officially make it a Smile Rays production. :)
Flashback to when I was 8 years old…
I remember the debut of MTV. They played the “I want my MTV” video over and over and over again. I had never seen anything like it. I was glued to the tv for days. It was at that point that I *knew* I wanted to do graphics for a living. My dream, as a starry eyed kid, was to work for MTV and make cool videos. ha! :)
i’m trying to download Pick Flowers from YouTube (because I lost the original files in a horrible computer crash) Fortunately, Firefox has a plugin that allows you to save videos as .FLV - which then has to be converted to .AVI so I can play with it in Premiere. I downloaded FLVPlayer, so I can read the file. Then Kingia Video Converter to convert the file. Sweet… except the outputted AVI is only 1 minute long or it has a dinky little logo in the bottom right. Not so!! Such is life in the world of freebie software. Still searching… Cory, I totally understand what you were talking about now.
have you ever had a website that was SO out of date, you realize it would take longer to update all the text than it would to just push it over to WordPress and start from scratch? yeah, that just happened. in no way am I saying this is a work of art… but it’s up to date and it’ll be MUCH easier to maintain. I’ve been so focused on the Smile Rays that Heavenly Noise has completely fallen OFF the stove.
and now… 2 hours later…
back to what I’m SUPPOSED to be doing. :)
More Rawkus 50 promo stuff… this one’s to replace the big happy blue flyer for the Spring Break tour. Now that the tour is over, there was a big blank space that needed some Rawkus love. :)
We’re taking full advantage of my freebie offers from VistaPrint to get some foil accented cards to promote our Rawkus 50 venture, as well as a couple other albums coming out in Japan and Germany. I haven’t used their foil accent yet, so I’m excited to see how that turns out. :)
Seriously, it’ll only take a few minutes of your time…
As some of you know, by the plethora of flyers I do for the Smile Rays… I am a Smile Ray!!
We’ve been selected for the Rawkus 50 - a pretty big deal to us!! We have a page on the Rawkus Hip Hop Community & they’re having a little contest among the 50 artists to see who can rally up the most “friends” - it could mean $3000 towards a professional Smile Rays video shoot and some extra Rawkus love if we win. Please go sign up and add us as a friend! It only takes a few minutes - you’ll dig the music, plus the community (powered by Ning.com) is next hottest thing since myspace.
