heavenly what?

Heavenly Noise

It all started 5+ years ago when Batsauce and I met. He emailed me about making some music — “let’s get up and make a heavenly noise!” — and so, Heavenly Noise began. Since then, we’ve done lots of shows, put out a couple of home grown albums and even started another group “the Smile Rays” with triple-threat Therapy.

The Smile Rays are taking off. Seriously. A few records coming out, lots of stir, press, soon to be globally blasted by Rawkus, Subcontact and Jakarta Records. Sweet! The group consists of — Therapy, Daisey & Batsauce. Therapy and Batsauce have a name of their own in the music biz, their own solo projects. When you hear the names, there’s no question who/what you’re talking about.

And then there’s Heavenly Noise.

First of all, the name confuses some people — “Are ya’ll a gospel group? Heavy metal? What is it?” It just takes too long to explain the deal - “It’s Daisey and Batsauce, we have our own separate group aside from the Smile Rays. He makes the music, I sing.”

Secondly, it just has more impact to say “Daisey” - One name. A person. An unmistakeable identity. An individual artist who works with… (insert artists/groups here)

I’ll still be singing over Batsauce beats. I may even throw in an acoustic guitar set here and there. Hell, we’re even talking about putting a live band together!!

So from this moment on… what used to be Heavenly Noise will now be billed, promoted and marketed as…

Quite simply… Daisey

iPhone UI design

I love my job.

They always hook me up with the coolest, most cutting edge projects.

I’m designing an interface for the new and much coveted iPhone. It’s quite a bit different than designing for web or handheld devices. First of all… the resolution is 160! How odd, huh? Also, it’s nice to have more screen real estate to work with (a whopping 320 x 480!) so the graphics have that nice apple crispness we’ve all come to love so much. It’s also using a sweet slidey javascript, similar to how the iPod screens slide the further you dig into the directories.

And, well, due to nondisclosure agreements… that’s really all I can say about that at the moment.

Smilin' on You - Now Available!Smilin' on You - Now Available!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for…
The Smile Rays’ digital release with Rawkus Records - “Smilin’ on You” - is now uploaded and ready for the masses! Rawkus won’t launch their global marketing campaign until early September, but we’re gearing up and getting ready for it. I’m still linking things up, so be patient, but here’s a visual taste of what’s to come. :)

so determined…

Phonobot is on an intergalactic quest to find “the funk” and I’m on a global quest to get this little guy manufactured as a toy. He deserves it. He’s too cute and far too funky to only exist on my computer screen. He needs kinetic love. He needs to be held by adoring fans. He needs to come to life, centrifugally casted in 3D form.

Determination? I’ve got it.
Persistance? Check.
Dedication? My middle name.
A manufacturer? hmmmm…

That’s where my sparkley intergalactic spaceship comes to a screeching halt. I’ve been wooing Crazy Label and I hope - I hope - I hope they take me on as an artist. I’ll keep emailing until they tell me Brut Force to go away. Until then, I’ve got my cosmic GPS coordinates set on them as my main mission.
